Jay-Z headlined night two of the Made in America fest 2017 in Philly and made it a memorable experience for those in attendance. His protege J. Cole did the headlining duties the night before.
As expected, Hov dived deep into his catalog, performing classic songs from his albums The Black Album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, The Dynasty: Roc La Familia and The Blueprint 3 apart from doing the most recent cuts from 4:44. Beyonce was in attendance too but some fans were left disappointed as she did not make a special appearance on stage this time. Jay did make sure to give her a shout out though, “Beautiful Bey is in the house tonight. Happy Birthday my love.”
Jay-Z paid respects to comedian and civil rights activist Dick Gregory and asked for a moment of silence for people of Houston who have suffered immensely due to Hurricane Harvey. He also performed two songs from his collaborative project with Linkin Park, Collision Course as a dedication to Chester Bennington who died after committing suicide last month. For his encore, he did the unexpected by moving from Rocky to Liberty Stage where he brought out Meek Mill for the ‘Dreams and Nightmares (Intro)’. Watch a replay of Jay-Z’s full set below (via mwp).
Hov will be kicking off his 4:44 tour in support of the latest album October 27 at Anaheim, CA.
