Netflix will be conducting a proper removal of some of our favorites from the service in August, and while we will be upset at some of the classics that are getting the boot, we can’t front: there’s a lot of HEAT hitting Netflix in August!

Staff Picks

GLOW (Season 3)
Stars: Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Sydelle Noel, Britney Young, Marc Maron, Britt Baron, Kate Nash, Gayle Rankin, Kia Stevens, Jackie Tohn, Geena Davis
If you slept on the first two seasons of GLOW, you either dislike professional wrestling or quality television. The series that’s loosely based on the iconic pro wrestling TV show of the same name, featuring cast full of women doing it up ’80s style. The series essentially looks at the behind-the-scenes of making this series, from the issues women had to face then (and sadly still face now) with men in positions of power to dealing with life on the road and their own personal issues. It’s hilarious as fuck, smart as hell, and has added Geena Davis(!) and a new locale (Vegas!) for this third season. Don’t sleep.

Jackie Brown
Stars: Pam Grier, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Forster, Bridget Fonda, Michael Keaton, Robert De Niro
One of Tarantino’s more underrated films, Jackie Brown brought Pam Grier back and paired her with Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, and a host of others to weave a complex money grab into this work of art. Grier plays the titular Brown, who uses her job as a stewardess to run money for Ordell (Jackson). When the feds catch onto her moves, there’s a target on her back; the way she plots to get out of this jam is beautiful. With Once Upon a Time in Hollywood hitting theaters very soon, it’ll be dope to see people go back to this 1997 classic and see how it stacks up to the Tarantino of today.
